PAT Testing?

The Law

Portable Appliance Testing legislation was put into effect to ensure that all companies conform to the Health and Safety at Work Act of 1974, Electricity at Work Regulations of 1989, Provision and Use of Work Equipment regulations of 1998 and the Management of Health and Safety at Work regulations of 1999.

How often should my business get tested?

The frequency of Portable Appliance Testing differs depending on your business area. Offices, shops and hotels range from 12-24 months whilst schools  should be tested every 12 months. In the construction industry all 110V equipment used on construction sites should be tested every 3 months. Our section on this page should help >

Who is qualified to carry out my Testing?

The person doing testing work needs to be competent to do it. When undertaking combined inspection and testing, a greater level of knowledge and experience is needed and the person will need the right equipment to do the tests, the ability to use this test equipment properly & the ability to properly understand the test results.
